The Trains and Carousels
The handcrafted heritage that makes the waterfront fun
The Miniature Trains
The LUCY DALTON, an electric train, was built here in North Bay during the winter of 2005/2006 by Warren Equipment. It is a replica of the first steam engine locomotive that arrived in North Bay in 1882.
The Diesel Train is painted green and yellow, the colours of the first diesel engine operated by the Ontario Northland Railway in 1952. The Diesel Train was painted by the ONR Paint Shop in the winter of 2018/2019. The ONR still operates a diesel engine in these colours between North Bay and Cochrane.
The Gas Train is painted blue and white, the colours of the ONR Polar Bear Train which operates between Cochrane and Moosonee. The Gas Train was painted by the ONR Paint Shop in the winter of 2018/2019.
The Carousels
The Heritage (Big) Carousel has 33 horses, a spinning tub, a rocking bench, and a stationary bench.
The Winter Wonderland (Small) Carousel features animals of Northern Ontario (e.g. beaver, bear, wolf, moose), Santa’s sleigh, a stationary bench, as well as the Trout Lake Monster, the Hippocampus.
